USGS MIPS Users' Guide: Setting Up a User

For Unix add these lines to your .cshrc file if you use the C shell:

setenv MIPS mips_home_directory
source $MIPS/exe/sys/mips_usrlogin.csh
For Unix add these lines to your .profile file if you use the Korn or Bourne shells:

MIPS=mips_home_directory
export MIPS
. $MIPS/exe/sys/mips_usrlogin.sh
For OpenVMS add these lines to your login.com file:
assign mips_home_directory MIPS:
@MIPS:[exe.sys]mips_userlogin.com
In all three cases mips_home_directory is the directory where USGS MIPS source, executables, and data files were installed. For example:

/usr/local/mips
or for OpenVMS

dka100:[home.mips.]
