USGS MIPS Snrgeom Documentation

This program uses the navigation information that corresponds to the image being processed and projects the sonar image  into the desired map projection and resolution. It can either be projected based on its individual lat/long boundaries or into a larger user selected lat/long (i.e., mosaicking quadrangle option). Each line is projected and placed according to the location, attitude information in the navigation file, and desired projection. The desired projection and output pixel resolution are obtained from the user.

Files

This program requires as input one unsigned 8-bit  or one signed 16-bit  image file and generates an output image of the same type. An optional second file name can be input; however, it is only a temporary workfile for SNRGEOM. The history  file is transferred from the sonar image to the output image.

Projection Parameters

The first three sets of parameters are based solely on map projection parameters such as the type of projection, radius and eccentricity of the earth, parallels, central longitudes, etc. The fourth set is used to select the latitude/longitude window of interest. Click here  for more information on these four sets of parameters.
