USGS MIPS Julian Documentation

This program computes and outputs the julian date to the screen when given any gregorian date, or vice versa. It also handles leap years appropriately.

Parameters

GDATE

This parameter is used to convert a Gregorian date to a Julian date. The format for the date is YYYYMMDD. For example, January 22, 1995 should be entered as 19950122. Note, if this parameter is used then the parameters JDAY and YEAR can not be used.

JDAY and YEAR

These parameters are used to convert a Julian date to a Gregorian date. JDAY must be between 1 and 365 (366 for leap years) and the year must be entered in order to take leap years into account. The format for YEAR is YYYY. Note if these parameters are used then the parameter GDATE can not be used.

Uses

Relieves a user from having to mentally/manually convert dates.
