USGS MIPS Flip Documentation

This program allowsimages  to be flipped from side to side and/or top to bottom. Any starting line, starting sample, ending line, ending sample area can be flipped from top to bottom and/or left to right. In addition, if the input image is a sonar image it can exchange the left/right altitude values.

Files

This program requires as input one unsigned 8-bit , or one signed 16-bit  or one 32-bit  floating point image file and will produce an output image of the same type. The following information is transferred from the input file to the output file(if appropriate):

Image labels
Sonar labels
Navigation  file
History  file

Parameters

SL, SS, EL and ES

These parameters define the sub-area of the input image to be flipped. The starting line and starting sample parameters define the upper left corner of the sub-area and have defaults of one. The ending line and ending sample define the lower right corner, and default to the last line and sample in the image.

TOPBOT or LEFTRIGHT

These options control which direction the sub-area will be flipped. For TOPBOT, line SL will be placed where line EL was in the input image. For LEFTRIGHT, sample SS will be placed where sample ES was.

ALTITUDE

This parameter will cause the altitude values in the navigation file to be switched. This parameter has no effect unless the entire image is being flipped from left to right and a navigation file exists for the data set.

Examples

From left to right, original Landsat MSS Band 6, image flipped left to right, and image flipped top to bottom.
