USGS MIPS Installation Guide
Finding a home for USGS MIPS

You must first select and create a home for the USGS MIPS package. The space requirement for the package is 70MB at a minimum and requires nearly twice that amount for installation.

USGS MIPS must be placed in a directory called mips. For example, on a unix system:

/usr/local/mips
/home/mips
are acceptable locations for USGS MIPS. Examples for an OpenVMS system are:
dka100:[mips]
dka0:[tools.mips]
