Building USGS MIPS is a very straight forward process; however, depending on your system can take quite some time (an hour or more). In order to build USGS MIPS you must start by setting your working directory to the home directory for USGS MIPS and then follow the instructions for your system type.

Follow these instructions if you have a Unix distribution:

cd src/sys/unix
chmod +x *
mips_gen

set default [.src.sys.vms]
@mips_gen
