Image directory:
- File Naming Convention: Ignore the first two characters. The last characters are the row (r#) and column (c#) of each image's location in the set, with the top left being r1c1 (row 1, column1). Note that r1c1 is the outlined area on the image to the left.
- Compressed Archive: There is a file named with the extension '.zip' in this directory. It contains the entire set of images, plus the compressed view of the entire set (usually named main.gif). The files were compressed with a 'zip' utility compatible with WinZip and PKZip. Zip/Unzip utilities can be easily found on the Web. Try searching at http://www.download.com/ or your favorite search engine. Create a new directory on your machine and unzip the files into it... many images on this website have identical names, so if you pick up several archives, unzip each into its own directory.
- The zipped image archives are also available FTP from TerraWeb.wr.usgs.gov in the /web/image.archives.zip directory.
